History repeats itself. 😢
The series “100 Beste Plagiate” plays on the competition title “100 Beste Plakate”, turning it into a political double meaning: Plagiate (German for “plagiarisms” or copied works) hints at imitation and the repetition of political patterns. Graphically reduced portraits are overlaid by the dominant “100” and the word field “Beste Plagiate.” Through radical reduction, identity becomes almost enigmatic — only context and recognition close the gap. The dates mark turning points at which authoritarian politics tip into open violence or escalation, telling history in fragments.
